The MBS International Airport Commission is seeking an Operations Manager to provide oversight and supervision of the ARFF/Operations Department. This position is a key member of the senior leadership team at MBS.

The Operations Department Manager is responsible for the Airport Firefighters and Operations staff, along with the oversight of the day-to-day operations of the Airport. He/she must demonstrate thorough comprehension and implementation of Airport operational responsibilities along with ensuring operations airside, landside and terminal areas meet compliance with FAR Part 139, Part 77, 49 CFR 1542, DNR regulations, NFPA 407 and TSA security measures. The Operations Manager should also possess familiarity with Aircraft Rescue Firefighting requirements relative to FAA regulations. This position coordinates closely with the Airport Facilities/Maintenance Manager. Work is performed under the direction of the Assistant Airport Director or his/her designated representative.

The ideal candidate will be a driven self-starter who takes initiative to solve problems and perform tasks with limited instruction. The opportunity will provide for a well-rounded experience in airport, airline, FBO, ARFF, maintenance and terminal operations.

Minimum Requirements:

• Associate degree or higher education in Aviation Management, Fire Science, Emergency Management, or equivalent combination of education and training in a related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in Fire/ARFF work or Airport Operations with not less than two years in a supervisory capacity.
• Knowledge of Federal Regulations applicable to a Part 139 airport.
• Must have NIMS 100, 200, 700, and 800 certifications.
• Residency requirement to live within a 30-minute drive of MBS International Airport to meet the requirements of serving as an “on-call” management representative, and for emergency response.
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre-employment fitness assessment, a fingerprint-based criminal history record check, and a TSA threat assessment.

Salary: $61,125 to $86,380

MBS International Airport is a public-use FAA Part 139 airport located in Freeland, Michigan. The airport
is owned by the City of Midland, the County of Bay, and the City of Saginaw. MBS is a small non-hub
airport with approximately 25 employees.
